Ribbon tweeters show a dead short to your amplifier! You must use a capacitor on them, when testing them or when using them with an electronic crossover!
Fountek Ribbon Testing Instructions
- 0.5W@0.5meter signal from 1,000Hz~40,000Hz - without capacitor, and must make sure amplifier is well connected with tweeter
- Turn off the amplifier before suspending the connection, and power off amplifier is a must before connection.
- We do not suggest Full Range Test, because in the low frequency the impedance of tweeter is almost zero - which is very easy to burn the tweeter and makes the amplifier overloaded
- Users may use 200 millivolt to test frequency, never do any test below 200Hz
